Giving Clothes a Second Purpose: HCF’s Collection & Distribution Initiative in Patna
On 12 July 2026, Harit Chetna Foundation conducted a Clothing Collection & Distribution Drive near Mahavir Mandir, Patna — built on a simple idea: useful clothes that are no longer required in one household can still be valuable to someone else.

Under HCF's Collection & Distribution initiative, both new and usable pre-owned clothes were collected from households. The collected clothes were then brought to the Mahavir Mandir area for direct distribution among people in need.
The activity included the participation of Foundation Founder & President Golu Kumar “Aniruddh” along with HCF members Aditi Kumari, Rohit Gond, Nikhil Kumar, Khushi, Rukhshar Praveen and Sahista Praveen.
It began before the day of distribution
The initiative did not start at Mahavir Mandir — it started in people's homes. In the days before the distribution, clothes were gathered from households: garments that were still in good condition but no longer needed. Those clothes were then organised and carried to the distribution point, where they were handed directly to community members and recipients.
Usable clothing should not sit unused or be discarded when it can still be useful to another person.
A simple, repeatable idea
At its heart, the drive followed a straightforward cycle — one that any community can take part in:
CollectClothes gathered from households
OrganiseSorted and prepared
RedistributeGiven directly to people in need
ReuseGood clothing gets a second life

Beyond the clothing itself, the initiative is about responsible sharing and dignity — meeting community members directly, treating recipients with respect, and encouraging a culture where reuse is normal rather than exceptional. It is grassroots work: neighbours helping neighbours, with the Foundation connecting what one household can spare to another that can use it.
